Veterans Day Aboard the Battleship November 8, 2022

What:          The Battleship New Jersey will salute our veterans with a ceremony on the fantail on Veterans

Day, Friday, Nov. 11 at 11am.

 

The ceremony will be MCed by Capt. Walt Urban, USNR (ret), with keynote remarks from

author and military historian John Siegfried, and a talk on available resources for vets from

Ted Gallagher of Camden County Veterans Affairs.  The Battleship will remember veterans

who have passed with the casting of a memorial wreath onto the Delaware River.  We’ll

celebrate our veterans with cake after the ceremony.  The ceremony is free for all to attend.

 

John Siegfried will also have copies of his book, “No Greater Love, The Story of Michael Crescenz,

Philadelphia’s Only  Medal of Honor Recipient from the Vietnam War,” available after the ceremony

and throughout the afternoon in the Officers Wardroom.  Mr. Siegfried will be available to sign books.

 

In addition to the “Story of Michael Crescenz,” Mr. Siedfried’s works also include “Six Degrees of the

Bracelet: Vietnam’s Continuing Grip,” released 11/11/11,   and soon-to-be released “A Wolf Remembered:

Story of Medal of Honor Recipient Sergeant Major Jon Cavaiani ”  and current book, “Corps Vet. The

Memoirs of Lt.General Ronald Coleman USMC.”  Mr. Siegfried is also working on “The New Agent Orange:

Comparing Vietnam Vets Presumptive Diseases with Gulf War Syndromes and Sicknesses,”  which is due

for release in early 2023.  Mr. Siegfried graduated US Army War College 2012 and St. Joseph’s College,

Phila. 1975.

 

To further honor our veterans on Veterans Day, all vets can enjoy a tour of the Battleship for an admission

of a donation of any amount.

The Battleship New Jersey Memorial and Museum is open every day for tours from 10:00 a.m.  to 4:00 p.m.
