The American Red Cross New Jersey Region will be holding a ceremony and flag raising aboard
the Battleship New Jersey to kick off March is Red Cross Month in New Jersey. The Battleship
New Jersey will fly the Red Cross flag and be illuminated at night in red lights throughout March
to honor all those who have made the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross possible.
March has been recognized as Red Cross Month for 75 years. Beginning with President Franklin
D. Roosevelt in 1943, every U.S. President, including President Trump, has designated March as
Red Cross Month to recognize how the American Red Cross helps people across the country and
around the world.
