It’s Official! Navy & Marine Corps Birthdays to be Celebrated in Philly and Camden in 2025 November 3, 2023
Homecoming 250 Navy Marine Corps has successfully convinced the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps to celebrate their 250th Birthdays in their Philadelphia birthplace. Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro publicly announced that he has directed the Navy and Marine Corps to celebrate their 250th Birthdays in Philadelphia and Camden in 2025. The Secretary made the announcement at Philadelphia City Hall on October 13, during the 2023 Navy and Marine Corps Week.
While announcing a new amphib ship will be called USS Philadelphia, at Independence Hall the same week, the Secretary said, “The Philadelphia Navy Yard consistently delivered the ships our Fleet needed for over 150 years. From USS Franklin — the yard’s first warship, launched in 1815 — the battleship USS New Jersey, to the last new ship built at the yard — the current U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge — the ships constructed here at PNY served our Nation in both times of peace and conflict with distinction.”
Homecoming 250 is the official coordinator for Camden activities, and is working with Philadelphia to coordinate activities there.
