Inaugural Gala a Success May 7, 2022
THE INAUGURAL ADMIRAL HALSEY AWARDS GALA HELD ON MAY 5th 2022 WAS A SUCCESS

The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial held it’s Inaugural Admiral Halsey Awards Gala on Thursday, May 5, 2022 onboard the fantail of Battleship New Jersey.
Cocktails and butlered hors d’oeuvres were served as guests bid on an array of auction items to support the museum while live music was performed by the Spearman Brothers.
The history of Admiral Halsey and his flagship the USS New Jersey was presented by Captain Walt Urban USN Ret. Followed by video remarks by Halsey Spruance, Jr.
The Master of Ceremonies Merrill Reese (Play-by-play “Voice of the Philadelphia Eagles” on Sports Radio 94.1 WIP-FM) wowed the crowd as he announced the Fleet Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr. awards for major contributions to the areas of business, military service and public service. The award for business leadership went to General Carol Eggert, US Army, (Ret.) Senior Vice President, Military and Veteran Affairs at Comcast, Ph.D. The military service award went to Admiral Michael Mittelman, US Navy, (Ret.), President of Salus University. The public service award went to Congressman Donald Norcross.
Current and future museum projects were discussed before auction winners were announced.
The event concluded with an auction winner firing a gun salute.
All proceeds from this event went to the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial to continue museum operations and educational programs.
