A special day of education for students and their parents aboard the Battleship New Jersey.

In celebration of Native American Heritage month, learn about one of New Jersey’s admirals, JJ “Jocko” Clark. Clark was born in the Cherokee Nation in the 1890s in what was then described as “Indian Country” and is now known as Oklahoma before going to the Naval Academy, earning his pilot’s wings, and fighting in both World Wars and the Korean War. Between the World Wars, Admiral Clark tested planes that would be used by the Navy during the Second World War. In 1953, Admiral Clark commanded 7th Fleet from New Jersey and was present for the signing of the Armistice ending the Korean War hostilities. In this program designed for elementary school aged students, guests will build their own aircraft to learn about aerodynamics and take a tour of the ship to see where Admiral Clark commanded from.

Admission is a $5 donation for all.
