Ceremony and Panel Discussion on the Battle of Leyte Gulf @ Battleship New Jersey
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the largest naval battle ever fought, Battleship New Jersey will hold a ceremony on the forecastle at 11am on Oct. 26, followed by a Panel Discussion about Leyte Gulf in the Officers’ Wardroom at noon.  Both events are free to attend.
The Panel Discussion will feature the role of the Battleship as flagship and Admiral Halsey, and the role that the Delaware River Valley played in getting many of the ships to the fight.
The Battleship is looking for any WWII veterans who were at the Battle of Leyte Gulf to participate in the ceremony and panel.  If you were at this battle, or you know someone who was, please contact the Battleship at 866-877-6262 ext. 144.
Other activities to commemorate this anniversary include:
–  The World War II radio room will be open to visitors all day and guests will be able to actively use the equipment to tune the radio and hear real broadcasts.
–  Staff will be on hand to assist visitors in communicating in Morse code and Semaphore on the signal bridge.
–  Learn from Admiral Halsey why he made the decisions that he did from the Flag Bridge where the real Halsey stood 75 years before, the world wonders.
