Memorial Day Facebook Live Ceremony from the Battleship @ Battleship New Jersey

The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial will remember our military heroes who gave

the ultimate sacrifice for our nation with a Facebook Live ceremony on Memorial Day, Monday,

May 25 at 10am.

 

The Memorial Day ceremony will feature an overview on the history and significance of Memorial

Day by Battleship Curator, Ryan Szimanski, and a talk on what Memorial Day means by Army

veteran and Director of Accounting for the Battleship, Mike Hayes.  The ceremony will end with

the casting of a memorial wreath onto the Delaware River.

 

Since the Battleship remains closed for tours due to the coronavirus, the ceremony will be shown

on Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/BattleshipNJ

The Battleship will offer a special Reveille relaxed tour, suitable for families with autistic members during the pre-public opening hours of 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, Dec. 12.

 

This quieter museum experience, will also feature additional hands-on programs and a modified tour route will be available to those wishing to avoid the Battleship’s ladders (stairs). A quiet room will be open to any that wish to use it.

Student Day

A special day of education for students and their parents aboard the ship.

Registered guests will experience a guided tour of the Battleship and participate in an onboard class.

This month’s class is focusing on the ship’s propulsion system, students will learn how power is generated on board to move the ship and provide electricity to the ship’s machinery.

All guests will be health screened, must wear masks and will be safely distanced along the tour and in the classroom.
