The Battleship New Jersey will host a Civil War Navy Symposium on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9am to 4:30pm. The event will include presentations on the Blue Water Navy and Brown Water Navy from Civil War historians, such as Dr. William M. Fowler Jr., Chuck Veil, Dr. Timothy B. Smith, and Dr. Gary D. Joiner. There will also be displays, living history exhibits, musical performances and lunch, all on the historic fantail (tented rear deck) of the Battleship.

Experience Vietnam War artifacts, re-enactors, veteran interviews and even late 1960s music over the pier’s PA during the Battleship’s annual Vietnam War Living History Day, Saturday, April 6 from 10am to 3pm.
Vietnam artifacts will be available for guests to check out in the Officers’ Wardroom, while re-enactors will be throughout the ship. Our curatorial staff will also interview Vietnam vets, who will share their experiences during the war. All activities are free for guests to experience with the purchase of a Turret II guided tour or a Fire Power audio tour.

The USS New Jersey was commissioned for Vietnam on April 6, 1968. She was the only battleship that saw action off the coast of Vietnam in 1968. Guests touring the Battleship can experience an exhibit that features her commission as part of the Battleship’s Fire Power Tour.
What’s new on The World’s Greatest Battleship? Join us for our first Members Night of 2020! We will be debuting our new tour routes, with a few new spaces open to guests. Did you know that the Battleship is one of THREE ships named USS New Jersey? Get the first look at our latest exhibit focusing on all three New Jersey ships. Try your hand at some of our new Building History programs including examining how electricity works and learn to solder. Hear from our staff about what’s coming next and get a sneak preview of what else is to come this year. We’ll have food concessions and bar service.
