The Battleship New Jersey will participate in the annual Philadelphia Science Festival’s Citywide Star Party on Friday evening, April 20. The ship’s forecastle (forward deck) will open at 7pm for guests to check out the skies above with a professional astronomer. Past years, guests got to see Saturn, Jupiter and an array of stars through telescopes.
We’ll offer some snacks and beverages for guests to purchase during this free event!
Free parking is available along Clinton St., which is on the access road that runs behind the BB&T Pavilion.
The Battleship will welcome VIPs of the Rock Allegiance Music Festival on Saturday, Oct. 6. These special guests, who attend the concert featuring Limpbizkit and Papa Roach at the BB&T Pavilion, will get a complimentary tour of the Battleship throughout the day! We’ll also have food concessions and cash bars on the pier and fantail (tented rear deck). The Battleship will be open for VIPs from noon to 8pm.

You may know the shopping day after Thanksgiving as Black Friday, but on the Battleship, we refer to Friday, Nov. 29 as Black Dragon Friday!
During WWII, because of the ship’s dark painted hull and when she fired her guns it looked like she was breathing fire, the Battleship earned the nickname “The Black Dragon.”
On Friday, Nov. 29, the Battleship Gift Shop will celebrate “Black Dragon Friday.” Guests will get an extra 10% off all purchases that day at the Gift Shop, open from 10am to 4pm. The Battleship will be open for tours on Black Dragon Friday from 9:30am to 3pm.
The Battleship will be closed for tours on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28. Have a nice and safe holiday!
