Cadets from Army will face off with students from the Midshipmen from Navy during a Tug-of-War competition on the pier of the Battleship New Jersey on Friday, Dec. 8 at 3pm. Guests are welcome to attend the competition for free on the pier.
The Tug-of-War is part of the annual Patriot Games — a two-day, five-event competition between teams of Cadets and the Midshipmen that take place in various Philadelphia landmarks. Other events scheduled are a Rocky Relay, December 8 at 8:30am at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Leadership Reaction Course at the National Constitution Center at 10 AM, the Pull-Up Challenge, December 8 at noon at The Shops at Liberty Place; and the finale on Saturday, with the Stadium Obstacle Relay, December 9 at 1:15pm at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Patriot Games lead up to the annual Army vs Navy football game on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Past Tug-of-Wars at the Battleship also featured both academies’ bands, spirit squads, mascots and even an Army tank!
The Battleship salutes active military personnel and their families with complimentary tours of the ship on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 19. Experience the legendary 16-inch gun turrets, a tomahawk missile launch from the Combat Engagement Center, how life was aboard this floating city and more. The Battleship is open for tours every day from 9:30am to 5pm.

Veterans can meet representatives from animal shelters throughout the Delaware Valley on the fantail of the Battleship to explore and even adopt a pet that day. We’ll have dogs, cats and other pets for vets to meet and learn about adopting a pet. Admission to the fantail is free to veterans.
Guests touring the Battleship that day are welcome to enter the fantail and meet the pets and animal shelter personnel.
