Presented by the Philadelphia Union, the ship will host a 5 v 5 futbol tournament on August 11 from 2pm to 6:30pm.
There’ll be entertainment, food and beverages!

Boxing on the Battleship: Rescheduled to Sunday, Aug. 28 @ Battleship New Jersey

Boxing on the Battleship has been rescheduled to Sunday. August 28 at 4pm.  Tickets purchased for the Friday, August 12 event will be accepted at this new date.

 

R&B Promotions is pleased to announce a unique and new professional boxing series that will take place on The Battleship New Jersey in Camden, New Jersey on Friday, August 12th.

R&B Promotions is headed by former bantamweight fighter and current owner of the highly regarded TKO Fitness, Alex Barbosa.

“We are very excited to jump into pro boxing promotion. We have done several successful amateur shows, and having fights on the Battleship New Jersey is a different experience that the fans will really enjoy. We are featuring young and hungry fighters, and I could not be happier about the show on August 12th,” said Barbosa.

Heading up the event will be undefeated welterweight Tahmir Smalls taking on Andres Viera in a six-round bout.

Smalls of Philadelphia is 8-0 with five knockouts. Just 23 years-old, Smalls is coming off a first-round stoppage over Roque Agustin Junco on June 24th in Philadelphia.

Smalls is a frequent sparring partner of top ranked welterweight Jaron “Boots” Ennis

Viera of Montevideo, Uruguay is 11-5 with eight-knockouts.

Viera, 38 years-old, is a six-year professional.

In a six-round co-feature bout, Danny Murray (5-6, 4 KOs) of Lanoka Harbor, NJ takes on Michael Gibbons of Atlanta (0-0-1) in a junior welterweight contest.

IN FOUR-ROUND BOUTS:

Leonidas Soprandis (1-1, 1 KO) of Kilkis, Greece takes on Eliezer Olmeida (1-1) of Camden, NJ in a junior welterweight bout.

Terrick Maven (0-1) of Vineland, NJ takes on debuting Brandon Trollinger of North Charleston, South Carolina in a heavyweight fight.

Tyrone Arzeno (0-1) of Philadelphia takes on an opponent to be named in a super bantamweight bout

Anthony Dill of King of Prussia, PA fights Ramses Brown of Bellmawr, NJ in a battle of pro debuting junior middleweights

Timothy Tyler (0-1) of Camden, NJ will take on Tyrone Lewis (0-2) of Philadelphia in a welterweight contest.

WWII Victory Day Aboard the Battleship @ Battleship New Jersey
Experience WWII artifacts, re-enactors, and military vehicles during the day on Saturday, August 13 from 10am to 4pm.
You can even help defend the Battleship from an attack by a Japanese plane!
For a donation, we’ll put you behind the 5-inch gun, the Quad 40 guns and the 40 mm gun! You pull the trigger to “fire” at the enemy plane!
To donate to fire a gun during the Japanese plane attack at 12pm on Saturday, Aug. 13, visit:
We’ll also have a special presentation on the surrender of the Japanese by Battleship Curator Ryan Szymanski on the 01 starboard deck, outside the Captain’s Cabin, where the Japanese signed the surrender documents to end the War in the Pacific. To attend Ryan’s presentation, which will take place at 11am, we ask for a $5 donation in addition to a tour.
You can experience the WWII re-enactors and artifacts, and watch the Battleship defend herself from the attacking Japanese plane at 12pm, with the purchase of a tour of the Battleship.

Country Music on the River, Sunday August 21 @ Battleship New Jersey

The Battleship’s Rockin on the River series is going country on Sunday, August 21. Three great country bands will perform live on the ship’s fantail.
Cottonmouth, 40 North and Jim Mitchell will take the stage on the historic rear deck of the Battleship beginning at 1pm on August 21. Enjoy a tour of the World’s Greatest Battleship, then line dance to some great live music. Food concessions and bar service will be available.

Cotton Mouth has been putting boots on the dancefloor since 2018. Their ever-evolving mix of musicians and styles has led them to becoming a group of five well-rounded players who bring a wide variety of song choices.  They cover Old & New Country, Southern Rock, Outlaw Country, with an occasional classic thrown in! The band has four vocalists that have each their own specialties and some crowd favorites they cover are Shania Twain, Jamey Johnson, Hank Williams, Gretchen Wilson, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Their focus has always been to have fun and to keep the crowd singing along and on the dancefloor!

 

40 North is a band of top-notch musicians that have just the right mix of talent & dedication to make things sound extra special. With 2 of the 5 band members being lifelong Veterans, 40 North always keeps things Patriotic and respectful to people of all ages & cultures from every walk of life.

The one thing that makes 40 North unique to everyone else is that 40 North places entertainment as a paramount staple of what they provide by every member of the band doing all that they can to ensure that people are entertained and made to feel like they are part of the show; through audience interaction, sing-a-long participation, expansive play-lists to cover various song requests, and by doing everything they can to ensure every performance feels like a good old backyard down home jam session.

 

Jim Mitchel and the Repeat Offenders is an outlaw band of musical gypsies with a killer live show! Whether blazing through guitar and steel guitar solos on original and country/rock songs or bringing it all home on a traditional country ballad ,these guys can flat git it!

Led by outlaw country singer Jim Mitchell, The Repeat Offenders are one of the top country/rock bands in the Mid-Atlantic Region and have been for years.  Currently based in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the band can be seen regularly in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

After working with many country superstars, Jim Mitchell and The Repeat Offenders released a debut record titled HELLRAISIN’ SON.  Jim’s second record DOWN THE OLD ROAD TO HOME with Jimmy Heffernan is a tribute to 1920’s and 30’s recording star Jimmie Rodgers.  Jim and the band then released their next record STILL DRINKIN’.  In 2020 Jim signed with DDF JAM Publishing and Record Label. Jim and the band are currently recording in two partner studios, SonLight Productions and Victor Records; a fourth record HINDSIGHT 2020 is soon to be released in 2022.

America’s most decorated battleship, she was launched on the first anniversary of Pearl Harbor, and went on to earn distinction during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and conflicts in the Middle East. Beginning with her design in 1938 and ending with her final decommissioning in 1991, Battleship New Jersey has a service record that spans more than half the 20th century.

SUBMARINE BECUNA

A Balao-class submarine that served during World War II and the Cold War. She was modernized in 1951 as part of the GUPPY Program, her modifications marking her as a GUPPY 1A type submarine. “Becky” is the only remaining example of a GUPPY 1A type submarine still in existence today.

CRUISER OLYMPIA

The oldest floating steel warship in the world and rose to prominence as Commodore George Dewey’s flagship during the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898. She bore witness to great changes within the Navy and the United States as a whole during her time in service, and finished her career by bringing the Unknown Soldier home from France in 1921 after the end of World War I before being decommissioned for the final time in 1922.

Join the 102.9 WMGK air staff for tasty craft brews and awesome views at the MGK Brew Blast on the Battleship New Jersey!

It will be a great day of craft beer sampling (over 50 beers) and live classic rock from MGK House Band, the Launch, on the tented deck of America’s most decorated battleship. All tickets include a FREE TOUR of the Battleship New Jersey.

The MGK Brew Blast is a rain or shine event. The main event area is tented. If it’s raining on Saturday, you may want to bring rain gear or an umbrella to stay dry if waiting in line to check in or to walk from the main event area to the bathrooms (about 20-50 feet from beer tent).

WMGK’s John DeBella, Matt Cord and Andre Gardner will be on board ready to talk music and beer with you. There will also be great food available for purchase. This year’s Brew Blast will feature over 50 craft beers.

  • General Admission Tickets are $50per adult.
  • Group Discount Price of $45 per person when you buy six or more tickets together.  Limited number  available.
  • ATTENTION DESIGNATED DRIVERS – There’s a Designated Driver ticket for just $20.  This  allows you entry into the event but you will not be able to consume alcohol. This ticket includes a free tour of the Battleship.  You MUST BE 21+ to enter.

Beer line-up

This year’s line-up will include over 50 beers. Conshohocken Brewing, Ommegang, Spellbound Brewing, Tuckahoe Brewing, Blue Point Brewing, Victory, more to come!

 

Parking

Parking is available at the garage next to BB&T Pavilion. It is a short walk from the parking garage to the Battleship.

Getting There Without Driving

  • Riverlink Ferry: Those coming from Philadelphia can take the Riverlink Ferry to the Entertainment Center stop and take a short walk directly to Battleship NJ from the parking lot.
  • Riverline Light Rail Train: Ride NJ TRANSIT’s River LINE to the Battleship! Exit at Entertainment Center and walk around the Susquehanna Bank Center. For information, rates and schedules visit https://www.njtransit.com/trip-planner-to or call 973-275-5555.
  • PATCO: If taking PATCO from Philadelphia or within NJ, you can take PATCO to the Broadway Station/Walter Rand Transportation Center stop. You can purchase a ticket and get on the Riverline Light Rail Train and take that to the Entertainment Center/BB&T Pavilion stop. Once off the train you can walk around the Susquehanna Bank Center (about 2 or 3 minute walk) to the Battleship.

Our annual golf tournament will be at Medford Lakes Country Club, beginning at 11:30am on Monday, Sept. 12.
A delicious lunch, prizes – including the chance to win a new car, and great golf! All proceeds go to help the Battleship, a non-profit museum and memorial.
