Please join us on the historic forecastle (forward deck) of the Battleship New Jersey on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 12pm to honor WWII D-Day veteran Jack Hamlin with a Memorial Wreath Ceremony. The ceremony is free to attend.
Jack, from Springfield, MO, was in the US Coast Guard off Omaha Beach on D-Day, and is credited with saving 70-100 men off the coast. They would tie a rope around him, and send him into the frigid water to rescue wounded soldiers.
Jack has received several honors for his bravery, including dinner with the Queen of England. Sadly, Jack passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the age of 102.
The Battleship New Jersey will salute this extraordinary hero with a brief ceremony and the casting of a Memorial Wreath onto the Delaware River.
