LEARN ABOUT BATTLESHIP DESIGN IN THIS MONTH’S STUDENT DAY
On Wednesday, May 26, at 9am, students and their parents can experience a guided tour of the Battleship and a classroom-style lesson.
Can you do a better job designing a battleship than the men who designed USS New Jersey? Look at the various parts that go into building a massive warship and examine the three primary components of a battleship: massive propulsion, impenetrable armor, and unrivaled firepower. Use this knowledge and mathematics to design your own battleship factoring in the problems that the designers of real ships faced.
Tickets are a $5 donation and all students must be accompanied by a parent.
This program is recommended for grades 3-8.
- Adults are required to stay with children for their entire visit.
- All guests must pass a health screening which includes a contactless temperature check, wear a face covering and practice social distancing of six feet at all times.

The ceremony, which will take place on the forecastle (forward deck) and is free to attend, will include a live performance of TAPS and the casting of a memorial wreath into the Delaware River.
