The Battleship is open for tours every day from 9:30am to 5pm.

BACKGROUND:
Meet the players and coaches of the Navy, Saint Joseph’s and Villanova Men’s Rugby 7s teams
and the Temple and Drexel Women’s Rugby 7s teams, who will be greeting guests and running
drills on the pier of the Battleship New Jersey, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22.
Also on hand will be the Rugby Rhino mascots, and representatives from Dunkin’ Donuts will be
hand with free samples. The meet-and-greet on the pier is free to experience.
The 2018 Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship returns to Philadelphia and Talen Energy
Stadium for the eighth consecutive year, on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, bringing national
and International attention to the Philadelphia region through the live broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN2,
ESPN News and ESPN+. The two-day rugby festival is one of the largest gatherings of collegiate and
high school rugby teams in the world, with over 30,000 fans anticipated to be in attendance. The
main event features 24 of the nation’s top men’s collegiate Rugby 7s teams competing for the
coveted Pete Dawkins Trophy, which this year will be presented to the winner by former National
Security Advisor H. R. McMaster. Also featured are 16 of the nation’s top women’s college rugby
squads, as well as the small college men’s rugby national championship and a boys and girls high
school competition.

On May 23, 1943, the USS New Jersey was commissioned into the United State Navy at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The Battleship will celebrate the 75th anniversary of her Commissioning with a ceremony on the forecastle (forward deck) at 10am on May 23. This event will feature key remarks from regional dignitaries and USS New Jersey veterans. The Battleship will formally dedicate the recently re-installed Quad 40 Gun. We’ll also have live music, including a rendition of TAPS by Battleship volunteer and bugler Nan Lacorte, a memorial wreath casting, and even cake for all guests as part of the morning’s activities.
The ceremony is free to attend.

Experience the Parade of Tall Ships as they sail pass the Battleship New Jersey on Thursday, May 24th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Each ship will sail up the Delaware River and will receive a salute from the guns of the Battleship as they pass. We’ll also have food concession and bar service.
Just a $10 donation to come aboard to watch the Tall Ships. Guests who purchase a tour of the Battleship are welcome to stay aboard watch the Tall Ships sail pass the Big J en route to Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia. Viewing of the Parade of Tall Ships is free to Battleship Members.

Experience the amazing view of the Memorial Day Weekend fireworks over the Delaware River on Saturday, May 26 from the deck of the Battleship New Jersey!
For just a $10 donation per person, guests can come aboard the forecastle (forward deck) beginning at 7pm. We’ll have face painting for the kids, snacks for purchase and a beer, wine and soda cash bar. Enjoy the amazing fireworks over the river at approximately 9pm.

The Battleship remembers our military men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice with a memorial service, conducted by the Bishop Eustace Knights of Columbus. The ceremony, which will take place on the forecastle (forward deck) and is free to attend, will include a live performance of TAPS and the casting of a memorial wreath into the Delaware River.

Visitors touring the ship are invited to stop by the ship’s communication room throughout the day on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, and listen in as the Battleship’s Radio Club talks with over 100 museum ships throughout the world via our amateur radio. This popular annual event, which is free to experience when you tour the Battleship, is hosted by the Battleship New Jersey Amateur Radio Station.

Veterans can meet representatives from animal shelters throughout the Delaware Valley on the fantail of the Battleship to explore and even adopt a pet that day. We’ll have dogs, cats and other pets for vets to meet and learn about adopting a pet. Admission to the fantail is free to veterans.
Guests touring the Battleship that day are welcome to enter the fantail and meet the pets and animal shelter personnel.

The Camden County Regional Chamber of Commerce is honoring the United States Military this year at its annual “A Taste of South Jersey” event, to be held this year aboard the Battleship New Jersey.
The culinary event will be held on Monday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.
This year’s theme is “Salute Our Big 5,” in honor of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. The event is open to the public, and tickets cost $35 in advance or $45 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, visit https://www.camdencountychamber.com
There will be a $10 military discount to those that can present a valid ID. There will be live music featuring Dyanne Hunter of the Harmony Band, and a cash bar. Attendees will get to vote for their favorite dishes to receive the “Golden Plate Award” for “Tasters Choice” and “Best Dessert.”
Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Paula Cottrell, 87th Force Support Squadron will be in attendance, along with some of her fellow air men and women of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Shuttle service will be provided by Albert’s Transportation to all registered guests from the parking lot to the Battleship and back throughout the duration of the event. Ticket includes shuttle cost.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to shoot a 5-inch portside gun. The Battleship will offer the possibility for that opportunity to participating attendees. Guests may pre-purchase it now or at the event. All proceeds will go towards the continual refurbishment of Battleship New Jersey.
Cost is one for $5 or three $10. The drawing and firing will be held at 8:00 pm. Must be present to shoot.

Guests can sponsor the Battleship’s rubber duck, Captain Quack, and then cheer for him in a race with other Captain Quacks in the Wiggins Marina on Sunday, June 10 at noon. The winning duck will win you four tickets to the Battleship Blast Luau Dinner on June 30. Second place gets a family overnight on the Battleship on New Year’s Eve. Third place gets a family pack of tickets to watch the July 4th fireworks from the Battleship! All guests who sponsor a Captain Quack Rubber Duck will also get two tickets per duck to watch fireworks over the Delaware River on Saturday, June 30!
Sponsorships, which range from $10 to sponsor a Captain Quack rubber duck, to $15 for sponsor and keep Captain Quack but you have to come to the Marina for the race on June 10, to $20 to keep Captain Quack and you do not have to attend the race — we’ll send the Captain Quack to you!

The Battleship is working with the American Legion to collect tattered and torn US Flags on Flag Day, Thursday, June 14. Bring your old flag to the Battleship and members of the American Legion will collect and dispose of the flag properly. The Legion will collect flags from 10am to 1pm.
Further, all guests who tour the Battleship on Flag Day will get a free mini US flag.
The Battleship will also fly the “Holiday Flag” on her main mast.
The Battleship can even fly a flag above the ship for you. For a $62 donation, the Battleship will supply a flag, fly it over the ship on Flag Day, and send it to you along with a Certificate of Authenticity. Aloha! Break out your Battleship Hawaiian shirts! We’re having a luau, complete with South Pacific Fire Dancers, Hawaiian music, and a great Hawaiian-themed meal as we celebrate the annual Battleship Blast “Luau” on the ship, Saturday, June 30.
In addition to the Island life, you’ll also experience an amazing view of the fireworks over the Delaware River at dusk!
We’ll also auction off a the chance to pull the trigger to fire the 5-inch gun at the conclusion of fireworks, as well as have another auction for a Tiki statue!
Tickets to the Blast must be purchased in advance. Parking for the Blast will be along Clinton St., the access road to the Battleship. For GPS, use the address of 100 Clinton St., Camden, NJ 08103.

All proceeds go to the on-going preservation and maintenance of the Battleship New Jersey, a non-profit museum and memorial.

Watch the fireworks show, presented by Philadelphia Welcomes America, over the Delaware River from the deck of the Battleship! We’ll also have live music, face painting for the kids, food concessions and a cash bar for adults.
Tickets are only a $10 donation per person and proceeds go to the on-going restoration of the Battleship, a non-profit museum and memorial.
The Battleship will open her decks at 7pm. The fireworks shows are projected to begin at 9:30pm.
Parking for fireworks will be available in the Camden Waterfront Parking Garage.
