The Battleship Blitz is coming!
Beginning at 7pm on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 15, the Battleship will feature unique videos each weeknight through Friday, March 12, on the Battleship’s YouTube channel. The video will show the amazing history and spaces aboard our nation’s most decorated and largest battleship! We’ll also have USS New Jersey veterans, Battleship volunteers and other VIPs introduce the videos each evening!

Join our curator for a special guided tour of the ship focusing on the battle of Truk Lagoon.
On February 16, 1944, at 1547, USS New Jersey opened fire opened fire with her main battery on an enemy ship.
Guests will go through the ship’s 6in armored deck into the citadel that protects the most essential components of the ship. Once inside the citadel, guests will see the inside of a 16in gun turret and the Mk 8 electro-mechanical analog computer that fired these guns over the ship’s fifty years of service. Guests will also take a look into the rarely seen gun director that helped aim these guns.

Student Day
Join Battleship educators for a socially distanced day of learning aboard the Big J!
On Wednesday, February 24th, at 9am, guests can experience a guided tour of the Battleship and a classroom-style lesson. This month’s class will feature the science behind aerodynamics, rockets, and missiles. Students will be challenged to create their own air powered rocket and see if they can hit their target. This program is appropriate for all school-aged children.
- Adults are required to stay with children for their entire visit.
- All guests must pass a health screening which includes a contactless temperature check, wear a face covering and practice social distancing of six feet at all times.

The Battleship New Jersey raised the flag of the Red Cross on March 1 and will fly the flag over the ship throughout the month of March for Red Cross Month. The Battleship will also be lit throughout March.
The Battleship kicked off Red Cross Month with a virtual ceremony on Facebook on March 1. In addition to raising the flag, the ceremony including the performance of the National Anthem by Battleship volunteer and bugler Nan LaCorte, the firing of the portside saluting gun and a memorial wreath casting for Red Cross staff member Laura Steinmetz, who was instrumental in organizing the Red Cross annual kick-off events aboard the Battleship.
March has been recognized as Red Cross Month for more than 75 years. Beginning with President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943, every U.S. President has designated March as Red Cross Month to recognize how the American Red Cross helps people across the country and around the world.

Guest can also extend their Fire Power self-guided tour with guided tours of the Engine Room and Turret II. Our tour guides will meet you in the Crew’s Mess during your Fire Power tour and take you on this extended tour.

Now there are more days for you to climb inside the massive 16-imch gun turret, track a tomahawk missile launch in the Combat Engagement Center, learn how the crew lived aboard this floating city and more!

Guests will go see some of the ship’s original Anti-aircraft weaponry as well as the more modern anti-missile technology. From the Combat Information Center where the ship found its targets for the 16in guns to the Combat Engagement Center added in the 1980s for missiles, guests will see what additions were made to the ship over her 50 year history to keep the ship in fighting condition.

Student Day
Join Battleship educators for a socially distanced day of learning aboard the Big J!
On Wednesday, March 24, at 9am, students and their parents can experience a guided tour of the Battleship and a classroom-style lesson. This two-hour session will talk about some of the technology added to the ship over her 50 years of service, including both kinds of drones that the ship worked with. Students will learn the basics of circuitry and then be challenged to create their own small robot capable of traveling on its own. The tour will focus on the changes made to the ship over the years and will visit the early Anti-aircraft guns as well as the 1980s computers. This program is appropriate for all school-aged children.

As a “Thank You” for the amazing efforts by frontline workers in the region over the past year, the Battleship New Jersey will offer frontline personnel and their families tours of our nation’s most decorated battleship for a donation of any amount!
Tours will be available Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 from 11am to 3pm. Just show a valid ID at the Battleship’s Ticket Office and make your donation of any amount to the ship, a non-profit museum and memorial.
Frontline workers include all nurses, doctors, EMTs, care home/in-home support workers, Food Bank volunteers, and the families of those workers.
During your tour of the World’s Greatest Battleship, you’ll experience the massive 16-inch gun turrets, track a tomahawk missile launch in the Combat Engagement Center, learn how the crew lived aboard this floating city and more. Plus, all guests can add an extended guided tour of inside a 16-inch gun turret and/or an engine room at no additional cost!
All guests must pass a health screening which includes a contactless temperature check, wear a face covering and practice social distancing of six feet.

Virtual and Real-Time Saluting Gun Shoots, Saturday, March 27 at 12pm
The Battleship will offer virtual saluting gun shoots at 12pm on Saturday, March 27. We’ll video the shoot to send to you as well as show it on Facebook Live.
The Battleship, which is now open for tours on weekends, will also allow guests touring the ship to pull the trigger live and fire the gun! Shoot the saluting gun for a $50 donation.
Want to get more bang? You can pull the trigger to fire the portside 5-inch gun for a $500 donation!
Shoots will begin at 12:00pm and continue until all donated shots are fired.
