Teak eBay Auction Ending Tonight
Nov 30 @ 7:00 pm – 7:15 pm
Teak eBay Auction Ending Tonight

The Teak Decking from the Battleship New Jersey eBay Auction Ends Tonight!

This seven-plank slab of our original teak decking is 27.25” wide and 40.25” long with rubberized caulk between the planks.  No bolt holes or damage.  Would make a beautiful table or inlay in a bar.

This teak was removed from the main deck on the port side of turret 3, the aft 16″/50cal gun, during a major restoration of that area performed in summer of 2020. Judging by the area it was removed from, the method of installation and the coatings on the steel underneath, it is possible that this teak was on board during World War II. It was likely installed in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard either while the ship was originally being built or during a major reactivation in 1968 for service during the Vietnam War. This deck protected the armor plate underneath from damage by the 1-ton shells, which were carted over it when ammunition was loaded and insulated several generations of American fighting men from the South Pacific sun while they ate their meals in the mess decks below.

Shipping available at buyers expense or free scheduled pickup.

Auction launches 11/20/2020 at 7 PM EST.

Pearl Harbor Tours – Early @ Battleship New Jersey
Dec 7 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Pearl Harbor Tours - Early @ Battleship New Jersey

Join us for a special tour of the ship, focusing on the events of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

See how the battleship New Jersey compared to the older ships present during the December 7th attack like USS Arizona.

Learn about the Anti-Aircraft guns that the battleship carries, see how later battleships, like New Jersey, were modified to better protect them from damage, and hear the stories of some of the people who were in the attack.

The family-friendly and more mobility-accessible of the tours (December 7) will be stroller friendly and child appropriate as we explore that infamous day in Hawaii.

The evening tours will go deeper into the ship down the ship’s ladders into the armored citadel to see spaces that are similar to those on the battleships that were damaged that day such as USS Pennsylvania, USS Oklahoma, and USS West Virginia.
