Battleship Offers Fire Power Self-Guided Tours, Beginning July 2

CAMDEN WATERFRONT, NJ — The Board of Trustees of the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial

announced that the ship will re-open her full Fire Power self-guided tours, beginning Thursday, July 2.  The state

of New Jersey will allow all museums to re-open on July 2.

“We are extremely excited to offer guests the full tour experience of the World’s Greatest Battleship,” proclaimed

Phil Rowan, CEO/Executive Officer of the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial. “Our guests can once

again walk down Broadway, visit the Captain’s and Admiral’s Cabins, watch a tomahawk missile launch in the

Combat Engagement Center, see artifacts in our Exhibit area and learn what life was like aboard this floating city.”

The Battleship, which suspended all non-essential operations on March 16 due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and

had offered tours of her exterior decks since June 15, will offer timed Fire Power self-guided tours of 10 tours per

15 minutes every day from 10am with the last tour departing at 4pm.  The tours will still include exterior highlights

such as the 16-inch gun turrets, the tomahawk missile launch boxes, the Seasprite helicopter, and more. The interior

of the Battleship is air conditioned and with the nice breezes off the Delaware River when you are outside on the

exterior decks, the Battleship makes for a cool experience!

All guests touring the Battleship still must pass a health screening, which includes a contactless thermometer

temperature check, in the Visitors Center before purchasing or redeeming their ticket.  All guests must wear a face

covering and practice social distancing of six feet in the Visitors Center and while touring the Battleship.  The tour

route of the Battleship, along with the Visitors Center, will be continuously cleaned and disinfected by the Battleship’s

housekeeping personnel.

The Battleship went through a total disinfection by National Restoration on Wednesday, July 1.  The crew of National

Restoration disinfected the interior spaces of the ship and the Visitors Center through its specialized cleaning method

utilizing the NOROxyCdiff™ chemical additive. The EPA registered disinfectant, which also meets CDC

recommendations, is a non-corrosive, non-toxic preventative and active killer for numerous viruses that kills

Coronavirus in less than 30 seconds and works effectively up to 30 days.

As a special “Thank You” to people for their patience in quarantining over the past few months, the Battleship will

continue to offer complimentary parking along Clinton St. and in the Marina parking lot, across from the Philadelphia

76ers Practice Facility.
