Artifacts, Re-enactors and Veteran Interviews Today

DETAILS: The Battleship New Jersey will host the 8th annual Vietnam War Living History Day on Saturday, April 7
from 10am to 3pm. The event, which includes Vietnam War re-enactors throughout the ship and artifacts
in the Officers’ Wardroom, also features Vietnam veteran interview sessions in the wardroom.
The schedule of interviews is attached. This year, the Battleship’s Curatorial Department will interview
Vietnam veterans from the Navy, Army and Marine Corps. The interviewees include one author, two
Tour guides from the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a current Battleship staff member and the
Executive Director of the Board of Trustees for the Battleship New Jersey. The interviews are free for
Guests touring the ship to attend and will take place every half-hour from 10am to 1pm.
All Vietnam War Living History Day events are free to experience when you purchase a tour of the
Battleship on Saturday, April 7.

Philadelphia, the Battleship is open every day from 9:30am to 3pm for tours. The Turret II
Experience, available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am, offers guests a guided tour of
the massive 16-inch gun turret. Journey five decks below the main deck. Along the way,
guests will place the 5-foot projective in the hoist, load powder bags, produce a firing solution
on the analog computer, and pull the trigger to fire the massive gun! Finish this unique tour with
a walk down Broadway, the longest and most interesting passageway aboard the Battleship
