Recently Re-installed Quad 40 Gun Fired for First Time in 60 Year

The Quad 40 Gun, recently re-installed aboard the Battleship New Jersey, was fired for the first time in more 60 years during a ceremony marking the 75th Anniversary of the Launch of the USS New Jersey on Dec. 7.

The ceremony also include the unveiling of a crystal sculpture of the champaigne bottle holder that christened the USS New Jersey on December 7, 1942 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The Tugboat Jupiter, which helped the USS New Jersey when she was launched 75 years ago, sailed alongside the Battleship throughout the ceremony.  USS New Jersey WWII veteran Russ Collins and WWII Navy veteran John Quinesso casted a memorial wreath upon the Delaware River to remember all ship mates who passed.
