Battleship Offers Free Buzz Cuts for Back to School

The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial will offer complimentary buzz cuts in the ship’s Barber Shop for Back-to-School on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10am to 2pm!  Men can also get a haircut for a $10 donation, which will go to the on-going restoration of the Battleship, a non-profit museum and memorial.  Students from the Rizzieri Aveda School, an affiliate of Rizzieri Salons and Spas, will cut hair in the same location where sailors aboard the USS New Jersey would get their hair cut.

The Rizzieri Aveda School was founded to create some of the most successful professionals in hair, skin, nails, and makeup.  Steeped in history and rich in tradition, Rizzieri Aveda School has provided future hairdressers and skincare students with excellence in education since 1928.  Their history started while visionary Franco Cipriotti was running a successful barbering school.  He saw the future of ladies hairdressing and turned his barbering school into a Beauty Culture School thus opening the first cosmetology school in the State of New Jersey.

Guests can tour The World’s Greatest Battleship after their buzz cuts.  Fire Power tours will be available until 5pm every day through Labor Day.  Climb inside the 16-inch gun turret, check out a tomahawk missile launch at the Combat Engagement Center, learn about life aboard this floating city and more.  Turret II tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on Monday, Labor Day.  These guided tours bring guests five decks below the main deck to the bottom of the massive 16-inch gun turret.  Along the way, guests will hoist projectiles, load powder bags, plot a firing solution and even pull the trigger to simulate the firing of this historic gun.  Finish your tour with a walk down Broadway, the longest passageway on the Battleship.
